Shompens are one of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG).
Stay in the dense tropical rainforests of Great Nicobar Island.
Belong to Mongoloid group.
According to census (2011), Shompen has an estimated population of 229.
They are hunters and gatherers, targeting wild boar, pythons, monitor lizards, crocodiles and lead a semi-nomadic life.

IRDAI removes age limit for purchasing health insurance
Earlier, individuals were allowed to buy new insurance policies only up to the age of 65 years. However, with the recent changes that came into effect on April 1, 2024, anyone, regardless of age, is now eligible to purchase new health insurance.
IRDAI has reduced the health insurance waiting period from 48 months to 36 months.

She won for her image of a Palestinian woman cradling the body of her five-year-old niece in the Gaza Strip.
The winning image shows Inas Abu Maamar, 36, crying as he holds Sally’s sheet-covered body in the hospital morgue.
The photo was taken on October 17, 2023 in Khan Yunis, Gaza, where families search for relatives killed during Israeli bombing of the Palestinian territory.
