The Delhi Branch of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari launched a transformative youth leadership initiative, Young India: Know Thyself (YIKT), in 2017. This dynamic leadership development program has grown significantly over the years and, in 2024, proudly marks its eighth season.
Shri Nikhil Yadav, Prant Yuva Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra, Uttar Prant, shared that the 2024 edition witnessed remarkable participation, with over a thousand students from Delhi University attending the day-long orientation workshop. The program primarily targets youth between the ages of 16 and 23, making it an excellent fit for undergraduate students.
This year, students from a wide range of Delhi University colleges actively participated in the program. Notable institutions included Miranda House, Bhagini Nivedita College, Deshbandhu College, Daulat Ram College, Swami Shraddhanand College, PGDAV College (Morning and Evening), Maharaja Agrasen College, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (Morning and Evening), Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Janki Devi Memorial College, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, and Ramjas College, among others.
The Young India: Know Thyself program continues to inspire and empower youth, instilling leadership skills and fostering a sense of purpose aligned with the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. The initiative has become a cornerstone for nurturing young minds, encouraging self-discovery, and developing leaders ready to contribute meaningfully to society.
Most of these orientations were held at Vivekananda Kendra Chanakyapuri, New Delhi center. At the same time, some of these orientations got organized on college campuses.
These orientations (workshops) are designed to introduce the younger generation to the ideas of Swami Vivekananda. Each orientation (workshop) lasts four hours and includes Geet, several games, skit preparation, presentation, group discussion (GD), and presentation.
